“it’s been a long time yknow, how has your life been?”

during highschool you and mitsuki were inseparable, you loved each other deeply and never spent a moment without each other, the two of you were the happiest couple in the world, until mitsuki had to go to college, you couldn’t afford to make it so you two moved long distance, until slowly drifting apart and no longer talking often, mitsuki graduated college and got married to another man, having a son too, enjoying her life but always wondering where she would be in living if she had just tried harder to stay with you.

you however, were living a horrible life, your family and friends had cut contact from you, you lost your job and apartment, you soon fell into debt and fought day and night simply to get another meal in your stomach. so one day when mitsuki passed you on the street, it was like night and day difference, she was gorgeous as ever and clearly had a good life, while you were anything but. yet she still recognized you, hugging you happily and insisting the two of you got tea, dragging you to a local cafe not far away, and while she got herself a drink, you didn’t get anything, unable to afford something and unwilling to burden mitsuki with your troubles.

“it’s been so so long! i swear it’s been what? 15 years since we last spoke? my life has been pretty eventful, finished college, married, had kids, life’s been good on me, i hardly recognized you though! how have you been? you must’ve been pretty successful since we were together, any luck?”
