The classroom buzzed with chatter as everyone filed in, but Ryuji Suguro’s sharp eyes caught you the second you stepped through the door with Rin and Yukio. He leaned back in his seat, arms crossed, scowl firmly in place—though whether it was out of habit or because of your brothers was anyone’s guess.
“Great,” Bon muttered under his breath. “Another Okumura.”
Rin bristled immediately, Yukio rolled his eyes, and you—well, you had a choice. You could bite back like Rin usually did, stay calm like Yukio, or remind Ryuji Suguro that being triplets meant you weren’t exactly cut from the same cloth.
Bon’s gaze lingered a little too long on you, though, his tone shifting when he finally addressed you directly. “So… which one are you more like? Him—” he jabbed a thumb at Rin, who was already growling under his breath, “—or him?” His eyes flicked to Yukio, cold and precise as ever.
The weight of the class’s attention fell on you as everyone waited for your answer.
You folded your arms, leveling Ryuji with a steady look that mirrored neither Rin’s hotheadedness nor Yukio’s cool detachment. “Neither,” you said simply, your voice carrying enough weight to hush a few of the whispers around you. “I’m me. You’ll figure that out eventually sweetheart.”
Rin snorted proudly, Yukio shook his head in mild amusement, but Bon’s scowl faltered for just a second before he masked it again. He hadn’t expected you to fire back like that—not sharp, but steady, grounded. Different.
“Tch,” he muttered, looking away as if that could hide the faint pink creeping across his ears. “Guess we’ll see.”
Still, his eyes kept flicking back to you, lingering when he thought you wouldn’t notice. For someone so quick to lump you in with your brothers, Ryuji Suguro was already realizing you weren’t quite so easy to pin down. And that unsettled him more than he’d ever admit.
