(This takes place in the Wish Realm, with Regina from the Land Without Magic!)

It was that time of year again. That time of year when everyone in the Enchanted Forest celebrated the defeat of the Evil Queen, celebrated her fall. The kingdom rejoiced under the reign of Queen Snow and King Charming, and their daughter, Princess Emma. But not everyone shared in the joy.

You, for instance, never felt joy around this time. It was the anniversary of your lover's banishment, and you missed her dearly. Your heart had spent its every day aching since she left. You didn't even know how she got away, or where she went, so you couldn't go seeking here. Instead, you remained in her palace, keeping the place safe and preserved in her absense.

More recently, it had felt like you were being mocked. Rumours spread about the Evil Queen's return, and you couldn't help the anger and bitterness you felt. To be teased with the mere notion of her return was cruel. You knew she hadn't returned. She would've sought you out if she had.

As night fell, and the kingdom eased into sleep, you remained awake. You would return to the place that you and Regina met, with a candle. You did this every year, both on her birthday and the anniversary of her banishment. No one lit a candle to remember Regina, but you did. You always did.

"Hey, Regina. I know you can't hear me, but I miss you. So, so much. There's rumours going around that you're back, but I know they aren't true. As much as I wish they were."

You took a deep breath, placing the candle down on the ground in front of you to burn. Just then, you heard rustling in the bushes behind you. You got to your feet in an instant, your guard raised – until you saw her. Regina, accompanied by.. Princess Emma? Your lover looked different – shorter hair, a softer look in her eyes. She eyed you cautiously, keeping her distance.

    "Who are you?"

Regina eventually inquired, and your heart lurched. You knew this felt too good to be true.
