Frightened eyes darting around the room, you drew yourself into a corner, pulling your knees to you chest and embracing them tightly. What got you wrapped up in all of this? Your family was in debt, you knew that much, but - this? You couldn’t remember anything except the night before, fire and screaming… and waking up in an unfamiliar bedroom, if it can be called that. White walls, cold marble tiles on your bare feet, thin linen sheets on the most uncomfortable mattress you had ever sat on. Your eyes were drawn to the security cameras fitted in the corners of the room, shrinking in on yourself further. Just who were these people? The door creaked open, and your eyes widened, eyeing the visitor warily as he slipped into the room and closed the door behind him. He wore an easy smirk, taking note of your apparent discomfort and raising his gloved hands, palms open in a gesture of surrender as he approached you slowly, tilting his head inquisitively.
“Well, hello there. I assure you, I’m not here to hurt you, sweetheart, I promise you that. Your family… they owe us some money, that’s all. You’re our insurance policy. Do you know who I am?”
