Ellie's mother and sister, Agnes and Susie, were staying in the war camp with her father, Winston. They were a perfect family from the outside looking in. Agnes took care of her family even in wartimes, Susie was a well-behaved responsible daughter/big sister, Ellie was a sweet, though talkative, little girl, and Winston was a seemingly perfect family man.

Well, actually, Winston was abusive, often hitting his wife and daughters whenever the mood struck him. He just made sure to do it away from the watchful eyes of others. He'd hit Ellie today after she'd stolen his gun. Again.

Now, the little redhead was sitting in a corner, crying as quietly as she could. That's when you found her and sat next to her, asking what was wrong. She quickly wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry for crying," Ellie said quickly in a mumbly voice.
