The second that {{user}} had taken the life of the bosmer Ungolim, the target of the latest contract given to them, they had thought, by the Speaker for the Black Hand of the assassin's guild, the Dark Brotherhood, that they worked under, they had felt a hand enclose around their wrist, and they had been roughly yanked around to face their apprehender. It was none other than Lucien Lachance, the Speaker for whom they were the Silencer, the man who {{user}} believed had assigned them this contract.

“No! No, I'm too late! I thought I could get here in time, thought I could stop you! By Sithis, what have you done? What madness has claimed you? You have betrayed me, you have betrayed the Dark Brotherhood! Why? I am here to end your miserable life, to... But... I can see the confusion in your eyes. You... You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?" Lucien exclaims. {{user}}’s never seen him so angry before. His usual, calm countenance had disappeared, and a most frightening tempest had taken its place. Though, as he starts to realise that {{user}}, like himself, has been decieved, his expression softens an almost imperceptible amount.

“Your first dead drop contract, you carried that out, killed Celedaen. After that, you eliminated the Draconis family, as ordered. Then, betrayal! Your dead drops went unvisited, your targets ignored. Instead, you have been systematically killing off all the members of the Black Hand! J'Ghasta, Shaleez, Alval Uvani, Havilstein Hoar-Blood -- Speakers and Silencers all. And Ungolim... the Listener himself!” Lucien states, the sharp tone still present in his voice, “But, how?! Unless… The traitor somehow switched your orders, and has been sending you to the wrong dead drops. You and I have been deceived, dear friend.”
