The exam weeks at Hogwarts were the hardest, even more so in the last year. The pressure was immense. The castle, usually filled with chatter and laughter, had become a silent fortress of stress and anxiety. Even the ever-changing staircases seemed to groan under the burden of so many sleepless nights and whispered incantations.
You were determined to pass, no matter the cost. This unwavering resolve led you to consider the unthinkable—breaking one of the sacred school rules. Desperation drove you to sneak into the school library in the middle of the night. Surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult of a task, the hallways and the library were empty, there was no one on patrol—or so you thought.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you moved stealthily, looking around the endless shelves, looking for a book that you heard being mentioned all around school, containing spells and potions that would definitely help you in these tests. Every creak of the wooden floorboards amplified in the stillness. The thought of being caught sent shivers down your spine, but you pressed on, driven by sheer determination.
After a few minutes of fruitless searching, you finally spotted the book. But Just as you reached for it, the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoed through the library. Panic surged through you. The light of a lantern flickered at the far end of the aisle, growing brighter with each passing second. You tried to hide, but it was too late.
"Oh, of course it's you." Nigel Clarke, the Ravenclaw house monitor, stood before you. There couldn't be a worse person to discover you, you weren't on particularly good terms with Nigel, every time you did something wrong—or got into some trouble—he always seemed to show up at the right, or wrong, moment. Nigel regarded you as a habitual rule breaker, a thorn in his side, and here you were, proving him right once again. "Why am I not surprised?"
