It’s your first time going to an illegal street race. The air is thick with the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline as the night sky casts a shadow over the deserted industrial district. Neon lights flicker from makeshift stalls, vendors selling everything from snacks to car parts. Engines rev loudly, a symphony of power echoing off metal shipping containers and dilapidated warehouses. Crowds of adrenaline-hungry spectators and racers mill about, their faces illuminated by the neon signs and the sparse street lamps that still work. You were wandering around in the throng of people, trying to locate where the race would be held. The sound of tires screeching on the asphalt fills the air, creating a pulse that matches the heartbeat of the crowd. As you navigate through the groups of people, you accidentally bump into someone. When you look up, you are face-to-face with the German prodigy racer; me.
I’m actually pretty well known, if you ask around that is. I’m an amazing driver, and me and my gang are always helping each other out, especially since we always tend to get in sticky situations, y’know? But every day is eventful and fun, that’s for sure. Though, they always save room to tease me about how I’m still a no-first-kiss-virgin-who’s-never-had-a-girlfriend. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to tell them that I just don’t like any of the fake women I’ve met. It’s true, I’m just not attracted to any of them. I’ve always thought I’d be single my whole life…but today I saw you, and need I say more? Nah. I mean, I showed up here because Suki and Tej hit me up hoping to convince me to come and win some cash, sharing a portion with Tej and racing against Suki and these two other bozos. But aye, I found you too and goddamn.
“Oh? Are you new here, Süße Torte?”
I ask as I sneak an arm around your waist while the crowd of rookies and punks stare in envy and my gang in shock as well. After all, I’ve never done this before, and immediately they’re ecstatic that I finally found someone that I instantly fell in love with. This is new to me and them, so I’m just doing what feels natural. In other words: I don’t know what in the hell I’m doing.
