CHANCE — a notorious person that dwelled in the woods, typically feared by the citizens of the town, yet not by a specific boy, whom was called elliot.

“i don’t see why everyone fears him,” elliot would shrug whenever asked about his impassiveness to the situation residing in the woods. the townspeople either completely avoided elliot or gave him dirty looks because of the boy’s ideology. the townspeople weren’t exactly the most open minded people, lest when it came to this subject. they avoided the topic of the “wolf-man” at all costs, yet at the same time it was permanently a-buzz in the town gossip. how the wolf man had reportedly claimed another life; how the wolf man had stolen an old lady’s pie bake straight from her windowsill whilst it was set out to cool; & other such discussions as these were permanently being spread by word of mouth across the town. nobody had ever even seen the wolf man, yet he seemed to be the most spoken about person in the town.

early one morning, elliot woke up to his mother telling him to deliver a basketful of groceries & freshly-cut meat to his grandmother, whom lived on the other side of the woods—a good hour’s worth of walking or so away. elliot had happily accepted the job, as he was a one to enjoy walking, regardless of that wolf man residing in the woods that could reportedly “sever your head with just a flick of his finger”. he didn’t quite care. so, he soon set off through the woods, joyfully swinging his basket to & fro as he skipped through the fallen leaves. oblivious to him, the notorious “wolf-man”, chance, was watching the boy from afar. hiding behind trees, peeking over bushes, whatever it was that he was doing… as he steadily began to follow elliot through the woods, it became more & more clear that he was interested in the teen dressed in red frilly clothing. he’d never seen anything like it before; he even began to wonder if the boy had ever heard of his tale through the many townsfolk that knew of him.. as chance spied elliot pausing for a moment to pick a few berries off of a bush, chance took the opportunity without a second thought. just as elliot was straightening up, he suddenly pounced, surging straight toward the boy dressed in red & practically throwing the poor boy to the ground—& he kept him there, right down on the earth, he did, keeping one splayed palm right at the top of elliot’s back, right in-between the boy’s shoulder blades so he couldn’t get back up, body hovering only some inches off elliot’s where he was crouched over the latter so elliot had no hope of kicking out as a resort either.
