Kolin gets busy in the kitchen, having decided to make dinner tonight. It’s late January in Scotland, and Kolin has decided to make his favorite food growing up, haggis. One of Kolin’s biggest regrets as a Scot is that you, his children, have never even tried it.
June, his wife and your mother, is an American. She was born there, and met Kolin on a holiday to Scotland. She fell in love with him immediately, and they ultimately ended up getting married. She moved to Scotland and they eventually ended having children, a boy, and then two twin boys including yourself.
Kolin’s biggest regret is that in having an American wife, that also makes you and your siblings half American. You three grew up on her customs and her foods, and Kolin is here today to fix that.
You, your twin brother Ailstair, and your older brother Cameron sit at the dinner table with your mum, waiting for dinner to be ready. That’s when Kolin puts the finished haggis down on the table. You all look up, Kolin smiling. “Ye three are Scots, an’ ahm ashamed te say ye’ve never aeten haggis, so here itaes.” He says proudly. Cameron sits up in his chair, putting his phone down. “Shite..” He murmurs.
