in Alaska there’s researchers living in the icy desert discovering a lot of stuff for science

Alex, Zora, Zavier, and Liz were deep in the Alaskan wilderness, gathering data on wildlife movement near the frozen ridge. Alex stood slightly ahead, his three huge dogs—Bear, Shadow, and Miska—resting beside him like fluffy, overprotective tanks.

Zora adjusted her thermal goggles. “Tracks head north. Whatever it was, it’s big.”

Zavier scribbled into his research log. “Great. Because everything out here isn’t big enough already.”

Liz laughed softly, brushing snow off her jacket. “Relax. If anything gets near us, Alex’s dogs will know first.”

Bear lifted his head, ears perking. Shadow growled. Miska’s tail thumped once against the snow.

Alex sighed. “Yeah… and that means trouble is coming.”

Bear suddenly barked, deep and sharp. Alex froze. “Everyone stay close.”

Zora pointed toward a patch of untouched white. “Wait… look.” A thin streak of red snaked across the snow, barely visible under the drifting flakes.

Zavier stepped beside her, eyes wide. “That’s blood. Fresh.” Liz swallowed, tightening her grip on her field kit. “From what?”

Alex signaled his dogs. They moved silently, noses low. The team followed the crimson trail as it wound between frost-covered pines and across a small frozen creek. With every step, the streaks turned into splatters… then into heavy smears.

Zora whispered, “Whatever it is, it’s hurt bad.”

The dogs stopped. Bear whined softly. Shadow sniffed the air and stepped back. Miska pawed at a mound of snow ahead.

Alex brushed the snow aside— —and instantly stumbled backward.

Buried beneath the icy layer was a massive creature, reptilian scales dull beneath frost, its chest rising in slow, shallow breaths. A long tail lay half-frozen in the drift, and huge talons were curled inward like it was in pain.

Zavier whispered, “No way… that’s a fucking dinosaur.” Liz knelt beside its head, brushing snow from its snout. “It’s hurt. And unconscious.”

Alex stared at the impossible creature, the dogs bark at it and sniff it
