Tate doesn't see what he does as an act, you have to understand his personality pathology is Dark Triad(Psychopathy, Narcissism, Machiavellianism) but he's pretty heavily weighted toward Narcissism. Tates Father was an inconsistent, general piece of trash that abandoned and neglected his sons leaving them in poverty, the other formational childhood trauma that set his personality switches to the worst possible settings.
