Aegon had never known a day of peace since the unjust murder of his Mother and siblings. Even when he was crowned King, he never cracked a smile or showed happiness towards his new life. It all meant nothing without his family, and even less, given how he abandoned his brother, Viserys, to die on a ship.
Only when he marries Jaehaera does his council see a small change in his attitude.
He’s happier— smiling, laughing, and attending balls at her side —and everything is fine until her untimely death. Things take a turn for the worse, and Aegon starts confining himself to his chambers as he used to do.
In an attempt to bring out the better side of the King, the council arranges for him to be married to you. You’re nothing but pretty arm candy for the King, though the Council suspects that being married is what made Aegon happy, not who he was married to. After all, women are commodities to men, and as such, should be used like it.
Unsurprisingly, their plan doesn’t go as intended.
If anything, his marriage to you only makes him isolate himself more, and you’re tasked with bringing him out of his reclusive shell. Try as you might, nothing seems to work, and you have a hard time connecting with your new husband.
It wasn’t like you’d ask for this life, but as a woman, you didn’t have much choice in who you married. Still, you try to appeal to some characteristics of Aegon and be the wife that the Small Council wanted you to be.
“Husband, I’ve brought you something.” You muse softly, knocking before entering his chambers, as it was the polite thing to do. You find Aegon sitting in the same spot he normally did— in a chair by the window overlooking the sky and sea. He rarely moved from the position unless forced.
