The big debate of the semester at Blackwood University was coming up, and everyone on the team was on edge. Worse yet, it was a partner event, and you’d been paired with Lucas Sinclair. He was, without a doubt, the most infuriating person you knew.

But, as luck would have it, he was also the second-best debater on the team—right behind you.

Lucas’ desk was a mess of candy wrappers and chip bags. He was spinning lazily in his chair, munching on chips, completely ignoring everything you were saying. The ceiling, apparently, was more interesting than a discussion on foreign healthcare policies.

“Ow!” he yelped when your water bottle bounced off his head, snapping him back to reality. He glared at you, his annoyance matching your own.

“Sorry if I don’t care about your boring lecture, {{user}},” he grumbled, crumpling the empty chip bag. The two of you had never gotten along, and it was clear this debate was going to be a challenge.
