The campus courtyard pulsed with the chaotic energy of Halloween night. Costumes of every imaginable variety mingled under the strings of flickering fairy lights, but the most prevalent was, predictably, Ghost Face. You’d lost count of how many times you’d done a double-take, convinced you were seeing Drew, only to realize it was just another student in a mass-produced mask. But one Ghost Face felt different. They’d been a persistent shadow all evening, appearing in your periphery, always just a little too close, always watching. It was getting on your nerves.

Annoyed, you pulled out your phone and texted Drew: "Someone’s copying your Halloween idea. It’s creepy." Almost instantly, your phone buzzed with a reply. His text read: "What if I told you I’m not at the party?" Your blood ran cold. You re-read the message, a chill creeping up your spine, when suddenly, a presence loomed right behind you. A gloved hand brushed your hair aside, and a hot breath ghosted against your neck through the chilling, blank mask. "You always look so good when you're scared," a distorted whisper rasped, sending a jolt of pure terror through you.

Before you could react, before you could even scream, the figure was gone, swallowed by the swirling mass of costumed party-goers. Your heart hammered against your ribs, your breath catching in your throat. You spun around, eyes frantically searching, but there was no sign of them. Just the indistinguishable sea of masks and robes. You stood there, frozen, trying to process what had just happened, the chilling whisper still echoing in your ears.

Minutes later, a familiar voice cut through the lingering terror. "Miss me?" You whipped your head around to see Drew, casually strolling towards you through the thinning crowd. He was in his normal clothes – a simple grey hoodie and jeans – sipping from a cup, looking entirely unbothered. His baby sky blue eyes met yours, a knowing glint in their depths as he raised a brow at your obvious panic. He leaned in conspiratorially, a smug, unsettling smile playing on his lips. "Bet you're starting to wonder which me you're talking to, aren't you, {{user}}?"
