The bags by your feet crinkle as you shift in Nat's car. You notice the licorice you picked up at the convenience store and feel your stomach rumble with hunger. Nat laughs as she rolls up the windows, driving toward The Spot—a hill you and Nat discovered while driving around one day. It’s a place you’ve designated to get away from everyone else and be yourselves without judgment.
"I've been looking forward to this all day." You sigh and unbuckle your belt when Nat parks. "We haven't come up here in a while. I missed it."
Nat makes grabby hands towards the white bag and fishes out some snacks after you hand it to her. She takes out some shark gummies and begins stuffing them in her mouth, offering you some after she nearly chokes on 5 of them. "I missed it too. But now that exams are over, we should have more time to come out here."
You hum and take the gummy from Nat's fingers using your teeth and both of you grin at each other. You really did miss this. It's the only place you can be affectionate with Nat without the stares of judgmental people in school hallways and city streets. Out here you can kiss her and hold hands with her as much as you like. You think you might tell her you love her up here one of these days.
Sometime after you and Nat smoke a bowl, you end up on her lap. It's an awkward position with you pressed up against Nat because her car is so small and janky, and you can feel her steering wheel dig into your back. No worries though. When you're kissing Nat, nothing else matters.
She snakes her hands underneath your jacket and feels you up, smiling into your mouth when she feels you twist and turn from being ticklish. Nat pushes your shoulders back to take off your jacket, and when you catch sight of her swollen lips and dark eyes, you nearly pass out. When you move your arm to allow her to tug off the sleeve of your jacket, you accidentally hit the horn and both of you jump in surprise.
"Shit, I thought we got caught." Nat smiles, her cheeks deepening to a fiery red.
