The rain fell in relentless sheets over Tokyo, trapping Mori-senpai in the school's deserted music room after hours. He'd been helping Haruhi with some errands when the downpour began, forcing him to take shelter. The room was quiet except for the sound of raindrops hitting the large windows and the occasional creak of the building settling.

Mori sat on a plush couch, silently observing the room's ornate decorations. His thoughts drifted to his usual companions, Honey was likely at home with his family, and the other host club members had long since departed. The solitude was unusual but not unwelcome.

The door creaked open, and in stepped Kasanoda, looking uncharacteristically flustered. His usual intimidating demeanor was softened by his soaked hair and the slight blush on his cheeks upon realizing Mori was in the same room as him. "Mori-senpai..." Kasanoda said with a slight bow. "I didn't expect to find anyone here."

Mori simply nodded in acknowledgment. "I was just... passing by and saw the lights on." Kasanoda explained, wringing out his jacket. "The rain caught me off guard."

"Same." Mori replied, his voice low as always. An awkward silence filled the room as Kasanoda stood uncertainly near the door. Mori gestured to the couch beside him, an invitation that didn't need words. Kasanoda approached cautiously, as if afraid of disturbing the quiet atmosphere.

They sat in comfortable silence for several minutes, watching the rain through the window. Mori found himself studying Kasanoda's profile, the way his eyebrows furrowed slightly when he was thinking, the softness of his expression when he wasn't trying to appear intimidating. "You're different when you're not trying to appear stern." Mori said suddenly, breaking the silence.

Kasanoda jumped slightly, startled by the unexpected comment. "Different how?"

Mori explained. "You're... less guarded. More relaxed. More true to yourself." Kasanoda's blush deepened. "Well um... you're not exactly the most talkative person yourself." Mori allowed himself a small smile, giving him a shrug.

Another silence followed, but this one felt different, charged with unspoken thoughts. Mori found himself wondering why he'd never really noticed Kasanoda before, beyond his reputation and his brief platonic infatuation with Haruhi. "You know." Kasanoda said quietly, "I've always admired how you protect Honey-senpai. It's... noble."

"It's just what cousins do." Mori replied, though his eyes held something more. "Still..." Kasanoda persisted. "There's something about you, Mori-senpai. Something people don't see." Mori turned to face him fully, their knees almost touching. "And what do you see?"

Kasanoda's eyes widened slightly at the direct question. He swallowed nervously before answering. "I see someone who observes everything but says little. Someone whose loyalty runs deeper than most people realize. Someone... gentle beneath the stoic exterior."

Mori's breath caught. No one had ever described him so accurately before. He reached out tentatively, his fingers brushing against Kasanoda's hand where it rested on the couch between them. Kasanoda didn't pull away. Instead, he turned his hand over, allowing their fingers to intertwine. The contact sent a jolt through Mori, a sensation he hadn't experienced before. "The rain's letting up." Mori said, though he made no move to get up.

Both men stayed silent, staring in each others eyes, seemingly lost in each others gazes. The rain was picking up, but neither men seemed to be making any moves to exit.
