I hadn't seen them for a week. Six days in which the silence between me and Matthew, Tom, Draco, Theodore, Regulus, and Blaise had become an insurmountable wall. Every day he asked me what they were doing, where they were, but no one answered.
Tonight, driven by an impulse I couldn't explain, I decided to go to the common room. Maybe they would answer me, say something.
But as soon as I opened the door, a shiver ran through me. The atmosphere was different. Darker.
I found them gathered, in black cloaks, dark symbols woven into their robes. Their expressions were hard, far from those boys I knew.
Tom saw me first, but his gaze no longer held that familiar light.
"Y/N," he said, his voice grave, almost a warning.
Matthew stepped forward, hiding nothing anymore: "We've changed. We can't hide it anymore."
Draco crossed his arms, smiling bitterly. "We're not just students anymore, Y/N. We're Death Eaters."
The word hit me like a blow to the chest.
Theodore looked down, but said, "We wanted to tell you this before, but we didn't know how."
Regulus and Blaise were silent, but I could see the conflict in their eyes.
I stood still, trying to understand how everything could change so quickly.
"Why didn't you tell me? You swore it wouldn't happen..." my voice trembled, broken by pain.
Tom took a step toward me, a hint of sadness in his voice.
"We tried to protect you, but the truth is darker than you can imagine."
The silence fell again, heavy and oppressive.
Alone among them, I realized that nothing would ever be the same again.
