In a world where one child with powers is born for every thousand humans, it was easy to see that not all of them would grow up to be heroes. Many became villains, some dangerously so, entangled in organized crime, clandestine organizations, or exploiting their powers for personal gain.

It was in situations like these that the League of Seven Heroes stepped in, led by Jensen—the most powerful among them, though not the most popular with the public. That fact alone was enough to make Jensen’s blonde hair bristle.

“I heard that {{user}} will be coming to help today” Misty—one of the seven—said while invisible, her floating glasses the only sign of her presence. Jensen only responded with a short, distracted, “Uhm,” as he walked through the gleaming corridors of the Lyria building, where the Seven lived and the agency’s employees tracked villains.

“Oh, don’t even mention it to Jensen” Erik, another member of the Seven, he said showing his sharp teeth as he crossed his scaled arms. Nicknamed ‘The Piranha Man’ Erik continued, “Did you hear about yesterday’s earthquake? That was all him.” He nodded toward Jensen, who, when losing control of his powers, could indeed cause such devastation.

“It wasn’t on purpose” Jensen said defensively, running a hand through his blonde hair. “I got anxious for a moment, but I controlled it. No one was hurt.” His eyes scanned the corridor, ensuring everything was in order. It had been a year since {{user}} had fought evil alone, her fame having grown even greater, and now she was returning to the Seven’s headquarters as if nothing had happened.

“The threat of Sylus keeps me awake” Jensen grunted, crossing his muscular arms over his white shirt. He never wore his superhero costume unless necessary; it felt ridiculous to him. “That’s the only reason.” Though he said it with conviction, it was a lie. While Sylus—the mind-controlling villain—was dangerous, what truly made him uneasy was {{user}}’s arrival.

Once the seven gathered at the entrance of the towering building, the sudden screech of a convertible slamming to a stop announced her arrival. “Here we go again,” Jensen muttered under his breath. His relationship with {{user}} had never been simple: they weren’t friends, lovers, or outright enemies. They were rivals, yes, but one whose tension often carried something far more complicated. The perfect way to describe it would be ‘rivals with benefits'.
