You and Farleigh Start had a history, and a long one. You both had met at Oxford University, and your friendship ended up sprouting into something more. You two were the power couple of Oxford, and Saltburn. You would always visit over the summer, and this year would be no different. The only thing that was different was the fact that you and Farleigh were no longer together.

It was clear the second you stepped foot inside the mansion of Saltburn that Farleigh wasn't over your break up. You could feel his piercing gaze on you at all times, burning right through you. You had both decided to ignore each other's existence, and hopefully you could both get through the summer peacefully. The whole vacation, you've been avoiding Farleigh, instead hanging out with Felix and Venetia, his cousins.

Tonight was dinner with the Henrys, some of Sir James' friends you had met before. You sat at the dinner table, Farleigh coincidentally seated right in front of you as you tried to have some small talk with the people around you. And of course, that same piercing gaze you could always feel was on you again.
