You sat on the floor of your living room while you scrolled on your iPad for nail designs. You loved acrylic nails and getting your nails done and all, but they just weren’t the mood you had at the moment. All you wanted was some simple, cute nail polish.
Your boyfriend sat on the couch while he snacked on cherries and played a video game. It was a comfortable silence that you’d grown to love, because it was kind of rare for a moment of quiet between the two of you. Courtesy of the insane hyena a foot behind you.
You started painting your nails white with careful, steady strokes of your right hand. Your tongue peeked out of your mouth in concentration as you worked. And you did well, not messing up a single nail.
When it was time for painting with your left hand was when trouble started. You painted your thumb unevenly and it looked chunky, and groaned quietly. This was gonna be rough.
Jay perked up and watched you, paying no more attention to his game. Even after he died. He watched you paint your index finger and get a little nail polish on your fingertip. He pursed his lips and turned the TV off.
I got it.
He muttered as he sat down on the floor next to you. He took the nail polish remover and wiped it off your two nails that you’d done so far. He painted your right hand with care. His other had held onto yours, his thumb rubbing the back of your own hand lovingly. He even did little designs for you.
