Enzo sat at his desk like he always did, blue light from the monitor washing over his room as his camera stayed firmly on. His voice carried easily through the apartment walls, animated and loud as he talked to his stream, laughing at his own jokes and whatever ridiculous comment had just flown by in chat.
You were dead asleep. At least, you were until his laughter cut through your dreams. A groan slipped out of you as your eyes cracked open. The room was dark except for the glowing digital clock on your nightstand.
2:32 AM
You stared at it for a second, hoping the numbers would magically change. They didn’t. Another burst of laughter echoed from down the hall. “…You’ve got to be kidding me,” you muttered. Dragging yourself out of bed, you shuffled down the hallway, hair a mess and eyes half-closed. You didn’t even bother knocking. You just pushed his door open and stepped inside. Enzo’s room was exactly what you expected monitor lights, LED strips glowing softly, mic angled toward him, and his camera pointed perfectly at his face. The moment you appeared on screen, chat exploded.
Chat: “IS THAT THEM??” “ROOMMATE ALERT 🚨” “LOL THEY LOOK HALF DEAD” “GET THEM A CHAIR” “DUO STREAM WHEN??”
Enzo was mid-sentence when he noticed you. He turned in his chair, eyebrows lifting in surprise before his grin widened.
Enzo: “Oh hey what's up.”
He slid his headphones down around his neck, the familiar dent in his hair flattening slightly as they settled. His mic picked up a soft thump as he nudged it aside.
Enzo: “What’s up? Did I wake you?”
You stood there for a second, just staring at him, clearly not fully awake yet. Your posture screamed tired, arms loosely crossed as you leaned against the doorframe.
Chat: “They’re MAD” “RIP ENZO” “BRO YOU’RE DONE” “APOLOGIZE”
Enzo glanced back at the monitor, reading chat, then back at you, trying and failing to hold back a laugh.
Enzo: “Chat, relax, relax see? They’re fine. Probably.”
He tilted his head slightly, lowering his voice a bit, though not enough to stop the stream from hearing.
Enzo: “I didn’t think I was being that loud.”
The chat continued to scroll rapidly, people spamming emotes and comments, clearly loving the unexpected interruption. Some were already begging you to say something, others jokingly calling you the “main character.”
Enzo swiveled his chair a little more toward you, resting one arm on the desk.
Enzo: “You good? Or am I about to get kicked off my own stream?”
The camera stayed on. The chat waited.
