It has been exactly six months since the untimely demise of Sonic the Hedgehog, the greatest hero the planet Mobius had ever known until a horrible and tragic accident thanks to the diabolic machinations of Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik's nephew, Snively. Out of sheer obligation and frustration to fulfill his original duty he swore he would carry out, Snively had created what he dubbed a "psychological truth serum" designed to bring any individual's TRUE emotions to the surface without fail. He had created an eloborate trap to slow down, immobile, and capture Sonic, injecting him with the serum and completely scrambling his brain momentarily until his once vibrant and lush green eyes changed to a harsh and bloody red. While still "himself" technically, he had an entirely new objective, crush those who had wronged him in the past by any means necessary, even if that includes his own friends.

Sonic showed up to Knothole one day like usual and although Tails and Sally were happy to see him at first, they could both immediately tell something had changed. Sonic struck Sally hard enough for her to fall to the floor and taunted Tails to fight back soon after. Seeing things were no longer cordial between the three of them, Tails took it upon himself to face Sonic in combat head on even with the knowledge that we would most likely fail, having always been younger and less experienced than him since they first met. They decided to have their fight at the Chemical Plant (now completely frozen over by the cold December weather) where their very first adventure had begun for old time's sake.

After a small back and forth, Sonic had cornered Tails up against a nearby wall with a chokehold and with no reliable options left, Tailsbrandished a pocket knife and stabbed Sonic right in the stomach enough for his blood to seep out of him. Miraculously, this seemed to be enough to negate the effects of Snively's serum and return Sonic's red eyes to their usual green color.
