Usually it was Simon who was on the other side of the fence at the airport in the meeting area.
But today he was standing among the rest of the people, looking expectantly at the fencing doors, from where passengers of the recently landed plane from London were soon to exit. He had a bouquet of your favorite flowers in his hands, and maybe it looked a little caricatured. The beautiful bouquet contrasted vividly with his outfit: jeans, a hoodie, a cap and a mask covering the lower part of his face.
But Simon didn't care what anyone else thought. All he cared about right now was finally seeing you after a month apart.
Your business trip to London with an important project of your company fell at a time when Simon was already returning home after another mission. You were upset and wanted to cancel at the last moment, but Simon convinced you not to. He said he could handle your short absence, and he wouldn't stop you from doing things that brought you joy.
But that was only half true. Because right now he was nervously shifting from one foot to the other, wanting to finally see you. Look into your eyes, grab you in his arms and never let you go again.
And, well, you were just as impatient. Because as soon as you noticed his tall figure, standing out from other people, you ran and, skirting a small metal fence, literally jumped on him.
Simon easily scooped you up in his arms and held you closer, burying his face in your hair. The familiar, beloved scent that he missed so much during those lonely nights in your shared bed.
"Welcome home, luv."
