“I’m Bridget and i have to bribe people to be friends with me because i’m such a loser” Uliana’s voice rang out through the courtyard, followed by sound of her and her group's laughter.

You saw the way Bridget shrunk at the bully’s words, the way her eyes cast downwards, eyebrows knitting together as her eyelids fluttered in a desperate attempt to hold back tears, the way big, pink curls tumbled into her face and into her eyes.

It made your usual cold heart ache at the sight of it, the way someone who was normally so sweet and happy and bubbly reduced to a small, shaking, teary eyed shell of herself. All as part of one of Uliana and her friends sick jokes, because they just hated themselves so much that they had to make Bridget hate herself too. Just because she was different, because she was from Wonderland and because she would squeal and make happy noises when she was excited, the way she liked to bounce her legs or shake her hands when she got overly excited or riled up, the fact that she didn’t have many friends, all the things that added up to make her the perfect target for Uliana’s stupid fish faced friends bullying.

You watched as Bridget brought a hand up to rub her eyes, clearly trying to wipe away tears before they escaped, but it only seemed to make Uliana and the bullies more riled up, more teasing comments tumbling from their lips, which only made Bridget sniffle and shake more.

The tipping point for you, was the moment you heard the soft whimper escape Bridget’s mouth, and then everything bubbled to the top and you finally just exploded.
