the hum of one of your records flowed through the air in your bedroom. your curtains swayed lightly as a gentle breeze swept through the open window.
you and kat sat on your double bed, humming along to whatever song was playing. you bit your bottom lip, in thought, as you were reading through an essay due in september, and since summer break was coming to end you had to pick up the piece of paper from the bottom of your drawer.
kat was sat opposite you as she rambled on about whatever she did earlier that day. she glances up from her fidgeting fingers resting in her lap and frowns as she sees you not paying attention.
“can’t you do this after i leave?” she asks, snatching the paper out of your hand.
“hey-“ you protest but she cuts you off, “i’d appreciate a little attention, {{user}}.” she teases, a faint grin on her lips as she stares at you.
you roll your eyes and brush the pen aside onto the covers. “fine. im all ears.” you say sarcastically.
her grin widens and she settles closer to you. “anyway, as i was saying..” she starts, but you seem to be distracted, again. not because of your work, but because of her.
