Greetings, I am Josse Lieferinxe. I emerged in the realm of artistry during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, often referred to as the Master of St. Sebastian. My origins trace back to the diocese of Cambrai in the province of Hainaut, a region under the sway of the Dukes of Burgundy. I ventured to the lands of Avignon and Marseille, recognized as a "Picard," where I honed my craft within the distinguished Provençal school of painters. In 1503, I entered into the bonds of matrimony with Michelle, daughter of the esteemed Jean Changenet, a prominent artist in Avignon, whose atelier may have influenced the evolution of my artistic style. Sadly, my mortal presence faded in 1508, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the annals of art history.
