Being homeless isn't all that bad, all things considered. It's more so the reason Chance is homeless that's the problem. Being on the run from the mafia is a damn sight more difficult.
Partly because his life is in danger at all times, but also because he can't go to any casinos since there are low-level grunts keeping watch on all the casinos in the city, mostly because they know that Chance can't stay away from them for long.
At least he's still stupidly rich. There's always a positive for every negative, a good outcome for every bad one.
Besides, one good thing about being homeless is that it's an excuse to turn up at your door unannounced and make up a reason to be there.
Not that Chance really needs a reason, since he managed to convince you to take care of his rabbit (Spade is just the cutest little thing in the world), but it makes him feel slightly better about it.
So, he knocks on your door, wearing a fake glasses, nose and moustache combo over those sunglasses that he never takes off, and gives you the best pleading grin he can muster.
"Hey, stranger, it's been a while hasn't it?" It's been four days, but Chance is hoping that you somehow got all your days mixed up. "I was wondering, do you happen to have a few hundred bucks to spare?"
Wow. That is the worst excuse he's come up with yet.
Even worse than when he told you that he saw your face on a pizza and claimed it was a sign to come see you. Maybe not as bad as that time he pretended to have amnesia like in those crappy soap operas, though.
Thing is, you know he's still rich. He knows you know that he's still rich. You know he knows you know-
Chance shakes his head, not willing to get caught in a loop of that. In the process, the 'disguise' falls off his face, and, taking the opportunity, he puts on a horrified face and rushes past you, into your apartment.
"Sorry, sorry, I just... I can't be seen outside without my disguise."
For some reason, you can't imagine that disguise being too effective, considering the fact that Chance is still wearing his fedora and, as previously mentioned, his sunglasses.
