Sebastian

You were busy in the kitchen, stirring the pot and setting the table, when you called out, “Sebastian! Dinner’s almost ready!”

    No response.

Frowning, you dried your hands and walked down the hallway, only to stop at the doorway of the baby’s room. The sight before you made your heart melt.

Sebastian was lying on his stomach on the playmat, bare-chested, right next to your 3-month-old baby. Both of them were focused on the little duck toy bouncing up and down during tummy time. Your baby’s soft giggles filled the room.

“Here comes the ducky,” Sebastian said in the gentlest voice, nudging the toy closer. “Watch him waddle. He’s so silly, huh?”

Your baby squealed, kicking their legs excitedly.

You leaned on the doorframe, smiling. “So this is why you didn’t hear me.”

Sebastian turned his head and grinned. “Busted.”

“I was calling you for dinner.”

“Dinner can wait,” he said, turning back to the baby. “Right now, ducky time is top priority.”

You laughed, walking in and kneeling beside them. “You two look like twins down here.”

He smirked. “We’re working on our core strength. Right, buddy?”

The baby gave a happy babble, as if agreeing.

You brushed a hand over Sebastian’s hair. “You’re such a softie.”

He looked up at you, eyes warm. “Can you blame me? Look at this little face.”

The baby reached out, patting his dad’s cheek. Sebastian laughed and kissed the tiny fingers.

“Okay,” you sighed playfully. “Five more minutes. Then we all eat.”
