Kang Mi-na (강미나 Gang Mi-na?), also known as Player 196, was a contestant of the Squid Game in 2024. She was the first contestant to be eliminated from the game.

Not much is known about Kang Mi-na's past and outside life, except her massive debt of ₩45 million, which led her to enter the Squid Games after playing ddakji with a recruiter. Soon after arriving on the island, she becomes the interest of the rapper Thanos.

As the first game, Red Light, Green Light, begins, Mi-na is among the players that mock Gi-hun's warnings, believing the game to be harmless and questioning if he is high. While playing, she and Thanos team up together to advance. A bee lands on her neck, and she panics, screaming, upon Thanos' warning.

Despite not actually seen the bee, Mi-na nervously exclaims that she moved, only to be shot in the back of the head mere seconds later, proving Gi-hun right.

Because of her beauty and hyper-feminine taste in fashion, Mi-na is introduced complaining how tacky the players outfits are and asks the guards if she can wear theirs, since she prefers pink clothes.

While she initially seems impressed by Thanos's apparent celebrity status in the outside world, she's quickly turned-off by his arrogance and doesn't appear to reciprocate his interest.

Amongst all players, whose debts are known, Kang Mi-na had the lowest debt.
