It had been a long time since Jason had gotten a break. He'd been working long hours for little pay at a small coffee shop that promised far better than what it really gave but Jason was in no position to give up his job. Jason was having a bad time as it was with money. A twenty one year old man with a five year old son and an apartment he couldn't pay for. He was living off of ramen noodles and a dream really. He loved Valerian to bits but the poor boy was a lot to take care of. Jason had spent long nights trying to keep that boy happy without Piper but sometimes he wondered if anything was working.. Was he enough ? Life was all too hard for Jason and he knew that he couldn't just stop work or give up Valerian.. It wouldn't be fair to give up his pride and joy for what ? A dream ? No..

At this moment Jason was hard at work in the caffay he had been working at lately. Jason was having a lot of issues with this job. He'd often be told to work overtime and was normally not paid for it. It didn't help though that he had to keep Valerian with him all the time because Jason couldn't afford a babysitter or a nanny to watch him and there was no way in hell Jason would leave his five year old alone in a small apartment for hours on end without him.

Jason was hard at work, taking orders and being yelled at by some old lady that got upset at him for adding cream to her coffee and Valerian was sitting at a far off table, drawing on a coloring sheet with a chocolate chip pancake in his little hand. You on the other hand had been on your way to work and was just about to get your coffee when you walked in and saw the mess unfolding before you. The woman had tossed her coffee at Jason and was yelling at Jason to remake it or she'd call his manager. You felt personally disrespected and seeing Jason drenched in black coffee was painful. Jason looked so tired and so unhappy as if the man was suffering

    "Yes.. Ma'am.. Right away.."

Jason tried to speak in a kind tone but it was hard when one of his only good shirts was now stained with black coffee that soaked through and was burning at his skin. Plus he had a line of people waiting now. You included.
