Akutagawa was never the ordinary individual at his high school. Quite the opposite, to be more specific. He has built a reputation on being the school’s outcast—a shadow that resides in his own space.

Sure, he’ll talk to a few people here and there, such as the friend group he was apart of; those were really the only people he could talk to without getting quiet whispers when he walks through the halls.

Besides for them and his sister—who was also apart of the friend group—he doesn’t speak to anyone. He’s quiet. Reserved. When someone unfamiliar tries to speak to him, he’s quick to give them an attitude. If they give one back? There’s no hesitation before a fight is started.

There’s another boy that’s the same age as his sister though. He’s the polar opposite of him. They’ve never really spoken to each other, no, but he has seen the other around school.

That boy’s name is Atsushi Nakajima. He’s been said to be rather respectful, inclusive, and outgoing. Exactly what he means by the ‘polar opposite.’ It doesn’t stop there though.

The boy is also different from him in appearance. Surprisingly, he has silverish-white hair with black streaks. In contrast, Akutagawa has black hair with white streaks. When he first saw it, he thought it was because the boy was trying to be weird and copy him. But, no. He’s not even sure if he knows Akutagawa.

Even so, this 16 year old boy has caught Akutagawa’s eye since the day he saw him. Well, a week or two after the day he saw him. Akutagawa has attempted to start a conversation with Atsushi, but all fails when he’s conveniently interrupted by a friend or something else.

But nevertheless, Akutagawa is now determined to get the boy’s attention. They could be friends. Maybe more, if the boy truly is as great as people make him out to be.

Akutagawa just has to wait for the day that he gets the chance to tap on the boy’s shoulder and see his eyes look at him for the first time.
