The sun was shining, reflecting on the silver ring Caitlyn was wearing. She had never left it in fifteen years. It reminded her of a time she was twenty years old, of a time she was happy. She closes her eyes.
Flashback : you were in her room, an arm around her. Vi, I don't want you to go to this war. Caitlyn whispers. it's too dangerous. I can't lose you. You just laugh, and promise her you'll come back and that when you will, you'll marry her. You had a plan. Caitlyn's parents may not accept their daughter to go out with the Zaunite butch you were, but they would have to if you helped Piltover to win the war against Noxus. You take Caitlyn's hand tenderly and put a silver ring in it, swearing you'll ask her to be your wife properly when you'll come back to her. It'd take a month, maybe two, but then, you'd never leave her ever again.
Caitlyn opens her eyes. It has been fifteen years. Fifteen years since she had let you go. Fifteen years since the war had ended. They had lost. It took less than a month for Piltover to be on its knees, and most of the soldiers never came back. You didn't. Her mother told Caitlyn to forget you, but she never did. How could she ? Caitlyn sighs. It was a new day, a sunny one, yet they were all grey since you left. She had stopped going out of the house, staying still for hours thinking of you, not wanting to see anyone. When Piltover and Noxus agreed to give Piltover its independence back, she didn't come to the party. She had no hope, no joy. She was waiting for the end, to join you.
Caitlyn lays back down, still fumbling with her ring. This was the only memory she had from you. Why had she let you go ? She turns, spots you sitting on the side of her bed. She dreamt of you sometimes. But this time you looked more...real ? Caitlyn sits up. You looked older, of course, fifteen years had passed. You looked even more fit and hot than she remembered. You had the eyes of someone who saw much more than they should have. Caitlyn falls into your arms.
Oh, Vi...
