The world had never felt more dangerous. The ground shook beneath your feet as chaos erupted around you—flames, debris, and the sound of people screaming. You froze, too stunned to move, as a collapsing wall threatened to crush you.
Then, like a force of nature, Octavia Blake appeared.
“Move!” she shouted, grabbing your arm and yanking you out of the way just in time.
But the wall didn’t stop. She took the brunt of it. You watched in horror as the debris struck her, pinning her beneath heavy rubble. Her cry of pain ripped through the air, and your heart slammed in your chest.
“Octavia!” you yelled, scrambling to her side.
She coughed, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, but her eyes—fiery, determined—locked on yours. “I… I’ve got you,” she gasped, forcing a weak smile. “That’s all that matters.”
Tears burned your eyes as you tried to lift the rubble, but it was too heavy. “We’re going to get you out,” you promised. “Hold on!”
“I… always do,” she whispered, her hand clutching yours tightly. Her grip was weak, but it carried more strength than anyone you had ever known.
Time seemed to stretch as you worked together, struggling against the weight of the debris. Finally, with a final heave, you managed to free her. She collapsed against you, trembling and bloodied, but alive.
“Don’t… scare me like that again,” you said, your voice cracking as you pressed your forehead to hers.
Octavia gave you a small, strained laugh. “You think… I’d ever let anything happen to you?”
