you were a seer, or you at least had the abilities of one, much like your friend pandora.

both of you were known for having visions of a vast variety. whether it be what remus was going to put on his toast at breakfast, or a horrific tragedy that will arrive in ten years time, you could see it.

you’d taken to the divination section of the library over these past few weeks, trying to decipher some recent dreams you and pandora had been having nightly. they were the same ones over and over, so you both decided they must be at least a little important, right? maybe?

most of the textbooks suggested tea leaf reading: a tedious task, but would at least be a little bit helpful when it came to analyzing these visions.

on one early saturday morning in the middle of march, you and pandora were out in the courtyard, at least three different divination textbooks open around where you were sitting, bookmarked in multiple pages. you also had astronomy charts, spare parchment to write on, and tea.

you had a tiny decorated cup in one hand, looking down at the contents with distaste.

“is that a…” you squinted down into the cup, trying to make out the shape the leaves had curated. “looks like a little silhouette of an angel or something. doesn’t that mean a parting of ways?”

pandora nodded and shrugged, looking down into her own tea cup.

“yeah. mine has a…triangle, which means a death. or maybe it’s- i don’t know.”

she tilted the cup at a different angle, peering down into it to see if the shape changed.

“kinda looks like a cat when i hold it like this. what’s a cat mean?”

you shrugged in return, having no clue what any of this meant. the whole death thing was just depressing, really.

“well, black cats are known for bad luck,” you noted, looking down at pandora’s dark tea leaves where the speckled shape of the feline in question could be depicted.

    pandora pursed her lips.

“well, yes, that is true, i suppose.”
