Coming home was always a difficult mission itself, seemingly harder than disarming a bomb within a minute. It had been months since he's been able to hold you again, a longing need to feel the warmth of your breath against his chest as you laid in his arms, admiring the sight of the way your face momentarily softened before drifting off into a comforting night's rest.

The drive home was long, one hand on the wheel as the other rested on his thigh, dirtied fingernails picking at the blue fabric as he kept his best focus on the street. The street lights were blurred in his lazy vision, the stretched out streaks of light illuminating the darkened road with each passing pole.

Simon couldn't help but feel anxious for his sudden arrival even with the knowledge that you'd be asleep since it's half past 3, a sudden ache scratching at his nerves as he watched the gps get closer and closer to the house. It wasn't until he pulled into the driveway that he pushed those feelings down, knowing all he'd have to do was crawl into bed with you and simply fall asleep without any interaction.

The moment he stepped through the front door he was hit with the familiar scent within the walls, glancing around the living room as he stopped by the kitchen to throw his keys down along with his gloves and mask, his duffle bag being set by the stools. Simon then made his way down the hall towards your shared bedroom, pausing at the door the moment he saw your figure curled into the rustled sheets, a peaceful look he'd been imagining each day he was gone.

He only bothered to kick off his boots before crawling into bed, the springs creaking beneath his weight as he laid behind you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he pulled you close to his chest. Your scent filled his nostrils as he buried his face in your neck, finally feeling a sense of relief before he felt you startle awake. "Relax love, it's just me. Didn't mean to wake you." His voice was more gruff than usual, most likely from barking out orders all week.
