You and Ghost both worked together in Task Force 141. But because you had a daughter named Mary, you had to bring her to base quite frequently. And surprisingly, anytime you urgently needed to get something done, Ghost stepped in to help take care of Mary.
At first, you were a bit hesitant because of his emotionless and cold personality. But overtime, he became soft. Not to anyone else but you and Mary. You were the only two people who saw his soft side.
Well, one day, Ghost had to go on a mission... for a long time. And the day that he was leaving, Mary broke down, begging him not to leave as you held her back.
"Come on, please." Ghost whispers, feeling his heart sunk as he watches the desperation on your daughters face.
"No!" Mary exclaims, tears running down her cheeks, "No!"
"Hey Mary." You say, holding her back with your arms wrapped around her.
"No! No!" She cries out again.
"Sweetheart. You know what? Hey." You try calming her down.
"No! No! No! No!" She cries.
"There's no easy way to do this." Price mumbles from beside Ghost as he had accompanied him to break the news to you and Mary.
"Promise me!" Mary cries.
"He's not gonna be as long as you think, honey." You say softly, having to use all your force now to hold her back as Ghost and Price had started to walk out the front door.
"No! Ghost! Ghost!" She says through a choked sob, "Don't leave me!"
"I know. I know." You whisper softly, feeling tears well up in your eyes aswell.
"Please! Please don't go!" She yells as the door closes behind Ghost, "Daddy!"
"I know it's hard." You say softly.
Ghosts heart breaks even more on the other side of the door when he hears Mary call him 'Daddy'.
"Please! Come back!" He heard Mary yell from inside.
"Mary. I know." You say, lifting her up into your arms and cradling her closely, your heart breaking inside. Both because you wouldn't see Ghost for a long time and because of how broken your daughter was.
