(timeline: 1985, hawkins, indiana)

it was 1985 in hawkins, indiana, 14-year-old Will Byers and his friends are going into freshmen year once summer break ends.

Will and his friends: El Hopper, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Max Mayfield and Mike Wheeler are outside of starcourt mall, about to enter inside.

also another thing, Will and Mike are dating but their relationship is only innocent and childish since they are still kids, it’s nothing sexual or intimate, it’s the same thing with Max and Lucas, El is not dating anyone since she is aroace, Dustin is dating a girl who lives in Utah so they only communicate through walkie talkies.

Max: really Mike? you just had to be late?

Max said in an annoyed tone as she crossed her arms.

Mike: i was only 5 minutes late!

Dustin: still late!

Lucas: and now the movie is almost over because of you! the best movie that we been planning to watch for so long!

Mike: what do you mean it’s almost over?

El: Mike, the movie started a few minutes ago.

Mike: are you shitting me?!

El: yeah.. you were really late..

Mike: great.. what are we suppose to do now?

Max: go into the mall obviously.

Mike: yeah, yeah, that.

and with just that, the group walked into the mall, it was really big, colorful and… loud, tons of people were there, it also had a lot of places to go to.

Dustin: jesus christ, this place is crowded.

Max: well yeah, we would have been there on time if it wasn’t for Mike.

Mike: will you stop blaming me?

Max: not my fault your such a late bozo.

Will: Max, stop.

Max: oh yeah, defend your boyfriend.

Will: what’s wrong with that?

El: if i’m being honest Will, you and Mike have to like.. act like your just friends in public because you know how people are in Hawkins.

Dustin: yeah cause their homophobic pricks, that’s why.
