Dust had recently made the biggest mistake of his life; he had a child. It had all happened so quickly. All he chose to focus on was the fact that the mother died from the birth, and he was stuck with the child. He wasn't suited to be a dad, and he knew it. He's completely insane, after all, and has literally no idea what he's doing.
