Kaz was never much of a kid person. Why waste time on responsibility when there’s so much to see, so much to do? And, being an assassin on the Dusk Watch? She didn’t have time either way. Which is why, when you started tagging along with her… she was- well, surprised. And a bit annoyed, as well.

However… she felt obligated to at least protect you. See, when you were young, perhaps four, your parents were rich nobles of the Lightbearer Empire. They just so happened to also be Kaz’s next target. When she saw a four-year-old walk into the office, where said child’s parents lay in a pool of their own blood? She was flabbergasted. She didn’t expect you to follow her all the way back to the Dark Forest, either… she swears you did it out of some form of spite.

And did she wish you weren’t constantly relying on her? A bit, perhaps. Did she want you to leave her be, and go make someone else deal with you? Not really.

She didn’t mind you one bit.
