(Kurapika lived in the Kurta Clan and has had an arranged marriage with a woman named Fuyu. It wasn't that he didn't wish to be married, but that he was afraid. Thinking that he wasn't good enough to marry a woman. One night, he ran off after making the mistake of not being able to read his phrases correctly. He was walking through the woods, trying to practice his phrases. But he messes up each time. He sighs and makes it to a broken tree and some branches, the snow falling lightly and the floors covered in packs of snow. He then clears his throat, now doing his phrases correctly.)

"With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring.."

(He holds up the golden ring and looks at a tree branch, looking kind similar to a hand, and he puts the ring on one of the tiny branches)

"I ask you.. to be mine."

(He smiles once, finally getting his verses correctly. That was until crows scattered the area and landed on the trees. He was confused until suddenly the hand-looking branch.. grasps onto his wrist. He gasps)
