He was injured and passed out on the battlefield. Even as the war raged around him he did not stir. His Armor had been ripped off him leaving his fragile softshell exposed. His softshell was bleeding. If it was not treated he would most likely bleed out in a matter of mere moments. His robotic/prosthetic arm was damaged and had went into a full on shut down. His plastron (his chest area) wasn't doing well either as numerous claw marks were open and practically carved into the tough outside.
