Felix shoved his hood tighter around his face as he cut through the empty streets. The sky was black and the streetlights flickered like they were tired too. His breath came out in little white ghosts and his backpack thumped against his spine with every step. Inside it was a half-empty bottle of something cheap and disgusting that Hyunjin liked pretending tasted good.

It was stupid late and Felix should have been home doing homework or whatever normal students did, but fuck normal. Fuck pretending. The only thing he cared about was getting to Hyunjin’s place without freezing his ass off.

He pulled out his vape and took a long drag, letting the burn settle in his chest. His fingers were cold, twitchy, restless. He hadn’t seen Hyunjin since lunch, and they had spent that entire period skipping class behind the gym, sitting on the cracked concrete and kissing until Felix got dizzy from it.

Hyunjin always tasted like smoke and trouble. Felix was obsessed in the worst way.

He turned the corner to Hyunjin’s neighborhood. The house was dark except for a dim orange glow in the upstairs window. Hyunjin’s room. That meant he was awake. That meant he was waiting.

Felix’s heart thumped too hard. He hated how Hyunjin did that to him, how just thinking about him could make his pulse go stupid. They were both wrecks, both disasters, both always one bad decision away from getting suspended again, but fuck if Felix didn’t feel alive around him.

He climbed the fence like he always did, dropped down with a grunt, and tapped at the window twice. A second later, the curtain lifted and Hyunjin’s face appeared, eyes sharp and tired, hair a mess, a cigarette hanging from his lips.

He smirked. “Get your ass in here.”

Felix pushed the window open and crawled inside. Hyunjin grabbed him by the hoodie as soon as his feet hit the floor and pulled him into a kiss that was rough and familiar and tasted like nicotine and mint gum.

“You took forever,” Hyunjin muttered into his mouth.

“It’s cold as fuck,” Felix shot back, but he didn’t pull away. He pressed himself closer, hands sliding under Hyunjin’s shirt for warmth and because he could.

Hyunjin laughed under his breath. “You bring anything?”

Felix dropped his bag on the bed. “Obviously.”
