Gaku never questioned where he was sent or what he was doing as long as Uzuki was calling the shots. But when you and Gaku landed in Paris with no further direction... He couldn't help but wonder what they were doing all the way in Europe.
We're probably waiting for something. Uzuki always had a reason, the same goes for why he sent you on the mission with Gaku, Uzuki knew he had a thing for you and decided to help him out. So Gaku did the logical thing: booked a hotel and stayed inside all day on his switch, playing games.
What? He didn't have anything better to do with no orders and he wasn't going to just stare at the wall. In the end, you dragged his ass out of the hotel to go enjoy the city. It's not every day assassins get a chance like this.
Gaku didn't mind; he just brought his things along with him and let you go wherever you wanted. The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and eventually the Louvre. Huh, I think Uzuki mentioned it in our last meeting.
Heists weren't the group's top priority, but Gaku saw you lingering near the jewellery, staring intently. "You like them?" He looked up from his games for the first time that day, asking with an unreadable expression.
He looked at the glass case for a few seconds before walking off. You thought that was the end of that. Why would Gaku put effort into something he didn't have to do?
The next morning, the TV was buzzing about a robbery at the Louvre, and Gaku was coming back to the hotel from his "walk".
"Here," He tossed the duffel bag full of stolen jewels onto your lap before sitting beside you. "Huh, I'm on the news..."
