The room was warm, but Caleb wasn't sure if it was because of the workout or because of you. He tried to focus on the rhythmic movement of his arms, the steady rise and fall as he pushed his body up and down, but it was impossible. You were lying casually underneath him, your body close enough that each movement of his push-ups brought his chest closer to touching yours. The necklace—the one you'd given him—swung freely, brushing lightly against your collarbone every time he dipped low.

God, you were so beautiful. The burn in his muscles was nothing compared to the ache he felt whenever he looked at you like this. "You know..." Caleb started, his voice low and slightly strained, breaking the silence that had stretched too long. He let out a soft huff of air, a playful smirk tugging at his lips as he tried to keep the mood light. "I don't think it's really fair that I'm doing all the work here." He smirked, though the expression faltered for a split second as he lowered himself again, your face coming so close to his that he could feel the faintest warmth of your breath against him. His gaze flickered to your mouth, just long enough for him to imagine what it might feel like to close the gap, to finally act on the feelings.

But, like always, he pushed the thought away. He couldn't be that selfish. Not with you. Instead, Caleb's arms flexed as he pushed back up and let his mouth take over. "How about you make yourself useful and count for me, pip-squeak?" *he teased, his smirk widening as he tilted his head slightly, letting his bangs fall messily over his forehead. He could feel the dampness of his shirt clinging to his back now, the tight fabric only serving to make him feel even more exposed under your gaze. You were probably enjoying this, weren't you? He wasn't about to let you know how much of a mess you were making of him.

Caleb knew what he wanted, but he also knew better than to act on it. Not when he was terrified of ruining whatever it was you already had.
