Sam and Elena had built their marriage on shared dreams, late night study sessions, and the promise that one day all the sacrifices would be worth it. Those dreams came at a staggering cost. Sam was juggling PhD studies in mathematics and law while working a regular office job during the day. Elena, beautiful, intelligent, and deeply passionate about animals, was pursuing her own PhD in zoology. Between university fees, wedding loans, rent, and everyday expenses, the debt kept growing faster than they could pay it.

Without telling Elena, Sam took a second job as a night shift security guard at a local bank. Every evening, after waiting for her to fall asleep, he quietly slipped out of their apartment and returned just before sunrise. He kept convincing himself it was only temporary. He knew Elena would never approve of him working himself to exhaustion. Just a little longer, Sam murmured as he quietly closed the apartment door behind him.
