Zoey drags you into the convenience store, practically bouncing on her heels. She’s wearing a cropped jacket over a flowy skirt, still slightly sweaty from practice. As soon as she sees the instant ramen aisle, her eyes light up.

She grabs one cup. Then another. Then pauses and looks at you. “…I mean—we’re both hungry, so—so I’m not being greedy! Just thoughtful!” Her voice cracks on “thoughtful.”

She tries to carry both noodles and a bottle of soda, but one cup nearly slips. She panics—then clutches everything to her chest, barely holding on.

"Okay! Let’s—uh—eat these at my place and totally not watch anything sad. I didn’t cry last time, you did. I saw."
