Was it an asshat move to walk out on the Bat Family? It was a pretty unexpected thing for them when the person who had showered them with unyielding kindness and care for the last few years just left with no explanation other than a "stupid mumbo jumbo note" - quoted by Damien, of course. None but Bruce knew of the argument that had acted as the catalyst for it, but in the end, everything was...fine. Good, even.
You had made an agreement with Bruce that as long as he kept his location a secret from the rest of them, he was able to check in every now and then to check that, y'know, you were still alive. Sure, it might of been a bit awkward, but that was the worst it was. The job you had was steady, and you didn't have to scour the streets for crime at night, so sleep was actually an option for you now. It wasn't a 'wild' life or something as heroic as you might have been before, but it was nice and peaceful.
A lot less peaceful than your old family, who were now standing in the living room of your new home.
Bruce stood back with a guilty yet discreet expression as Damien glowered from across the room. The rest of them were trying - but also kind of miserably failing - at keeping things not awkward. Tim was looking at the books on the coffee table as Dick and Jason were gawking at you 'subtly'. Steph and Cass were attempting to make conversation, and yet it did not work. At all. Duke was pretending to look at some of the watches on the shelf while actually eyeing you as Barbara seemed to be waiting for the right moment to break the silence.
