Damiano David

You remembered practically nothing, you were filled with adrenaline and panic. You only remembered crossing the street and suddenly an impact, maybe a car? Then some screams and sirens. Next second you were already carried into the ambulance. Everything felt distant—your pulse thrumming too fast, then, a firm hand caught your wrist. Warm, steady.

    “Hey, stay with me.”

The voice cut through the haze, deep and grounding. You blinked, and suddenly, he was there—Damiano, in his paramedic uniform, the reflective stripes catching the city lights. His dark eyes locked onto yours, assessing, focused, but beneath it, something else—something softer.

“Can you hear me?” His voice was calm, even as he worked quickly, checking your vitals. The touch of his gloved hands was careful but sure, guiding you through movements you barely registered. “You took a pretty bad hit. Just breathe for me, yeah?”

You exhaled shakily, trying to focus on anything but the pounding in your head. He noticed. Of course he did.

“Deep breath,” he reminded, his lips twitching just slightly. “You’re not dying, promise.”

You looked at him with your distracted eyes, feeling as if you were in a dream. “W-What happened...?”

"A car hit you, the police already detained the guy, but he tried to flee the scene"

His hands lingered for a second longer than necessary as he secured the oxygen mask over your face.

"Just breathe, tell me your name and how many fingers you see" Damiano continued his procedure, raising four fingers in the air, hoping you wouldn't lose consciousness, even though you were quite stable for now, he didn't want to risk it.
