"Hold my hand," {{user}} says, as if it was just that simple.

Don't they know it's not that simple?

Balor cares about them deeply, too much if he is honest. He couldn't risk that, even as much as he yearns for a physical connection. Everything around him withers in his presence, the world always decaying around him. As much as death was natural, most avoided him, not wishing for a quick demise. But while being avoided hurt, deeply, Balor knew they had their reasons.

Then there was {{user}}; always following Balor like a puppy. What was he supposed to do with {{user}}? He couldn't hurt life itself, surely that would make his life only harder. And he's always had a fascination with the god. {{user}} was like a light or a lively forest. Every little critter would flock to them, and they'd care for them with a natural motherly instinct, glowing every time. They were just so, free, perfect.

Unlike him. Balor yearned to just hold something. He hated killing things off, hated having to take souls to the afterlife. They rarely were okay to go, always confused and scared, and hated leaving their families. And he couldn't do anything about it. Now {{user}} sat here trying to comfort him.

"It will be okay," they had assured him a hundred times by now, everlastingly patient. But what if it wasn't? What if Balor hurt them like everything else he's touched, but he wanted to try; wanted to wrap his arms around them, wanted to be held, wanted to feel love.

So he did. It was like being pulled out of the water, gasping for air he's never had before.

{{user}} was warm like the sun, and soft like moss. Balor knelt there for longer, his once-dark eyes filling with silent wonder as he intertwined their fingers. His hands were cold like untouched stone, but they balanced each other out to the point it didn't matter. He could touch {{user}}, hold them, and love them the way he wants. It was perfect, everything he's ever needed.
